So it seems, I may have sold my soul....or at least, my free time.
I am now the troop leader for Troop 8459 Daisy Scouts. Cassie and 4 other girls (currently) are in my troop. I've taken their online overview training and hope to get more training soon, because I have no clue what's going on. I do know, however, that the principles of Girl Scouting are the same principles that I want Cassie and the rest of the kids to have, so I am completely on board. We are going to have some fun, as the learn the Girl Scout Law and Girl Scout Promise and while we do activities that attempt to reach one of the 4 goals of girl scouting:
*** Develop to their full potential.
*** Relate to others with increasing understanding, skill, and respect.
*** Develop a meaningful set of values to guide their actions and to provide for sound decision-making.
*** Contribute to the improvement of society.

Aren't those goals that we all have for our girls?

It takes a true man to be a girl scout leader.
"On my honor" .....wow that brings back some memories. They made slight changes from what I remember to the Girl Scout Law, but still the same message. Congrats to Cassie...I was a Brownie and a Girl Scout and loved it. Hats off to you Scott....I think its great you getting involved. I remember when you and Marc were in Cubscouts and Boyscouts with Daddy, Mom was a Den mother and I was always there....Scouting is a great way for kids to learn respect, values and give something back to the community. You are truly following in Daddy's footsteps...Be Proud, I am.
Thanks - I have fond memories of being a scout and had Cassie been a boy, my volunteering would have been a no brainer.
That doesn't change the fact that I am completely scared out of my wits. Girls are very intimidating.
We bought Cassie's uniform and our books yesterday. It will be fun.
